The Fragile Balance of Mind and Matter

Gruppenausstellung

Opening
Monday, January 25, 2016
Exhibition
January 26, 2016 – March 4, 2016

The exhibition „The Fragile Balance of Mind and Matter" brings together works whose creation processes trace a balance between mind (as interiority) and matter (as exterior space). As a kind of unintentional search for traces, the works by Selina de Beauclair, Simon Goritschnig, and Markus Guschelbauer co-create a space that constantly threatens to fall out of a yet unestablished equilibrium.

The exhibiting artists manifest individual perspectives on nature and its processes, which mutually condense into a comprehensive, poetic-analytical image. This image attempts to think of nature and technology as separate, yet connected. The exhibited works establish different balances and dynamics, and in their entirety open up a vast field of thought.

Selina de Beauclair builds a poetic, at times romantic narration through figuration, primarily processing psychological interior spaces. Markus Guschelbauer thinks with a clear sense an aesthetics of the moment, analytically reformulating natural exterior spaces into fragile interiors. Simon Goritschnig works at the intersection of installation and graphic art, tracing the mutual situating of nature and technology.
