Tangible Echoes

The works of Victoria Vinogradova and Jakub Tomáš create spatial atmospheres that also operate beyond the physical, yet never lose their tangibility or haptic quality. The "spaces" thus created can be thought of as amplifications of semantic echoes that endlessly reverberate their contents.

Vinogradova's work manifests itself primarily in an installative and drawing-based manner, often conveying a performative tendency or mood that can also include surrealist elements. It is based on a drawing practice that keeps thematic pathos in balance.

The works of Jakub Tomáš primarily focus on painting on canvas and connect art-historical and political content. Tomáš operates scenographically, with the final works referencing previously built miniatures. Various mimetic representational operations take place, expanding the classical trompe-l'oeil theme.
