Prädikat Systemrelevant

The Hollerei Gallery launches into the art autumn. Even before the opening of the Vienna Contemporary, the exhibition “PRÄDIKAT SYSTEMRELEVANT” (Rated System-Relevant) with works by Lola Lindenbaum begins. Many of the works shown were created during the lockdown and also deal thematically with unavailabilities and current events and their effect on the state of the soul. Works with titles such as “The world was locked up, but what does the cactus care,” “Emptiness has a big say,” or “Nothing planned and slightly tipsy” can be found alongside Lindenbaum’s “Quarantine boxes.” Also interesting in this context are the lyrical additives, which are likewise presented in the exhibition spaces of the Hollerei, Hollergasse 9, 1150 Vienna.

The driving force of art may be the abysmal. The shadow, the unconscious, the unlived. In poems and paintings, one may curse, murder, and fornicate. Yes, one may even smoke and pay homage to the consumption of the recently villainized carbohydrates.
