The HOLLEREI invites to the unveiling of a wall painting by Paul Riedmüller (* 1989 in Graz, lives and works in Vienna and Utrecht) in the Anschützgasse office building, realised in collaboration with WSE Wiener Standortentwicklung. Further wall paintings by Riedmüller will follow – an artist known, alongside his canvases, especially for wall-filling interventions in public space.
The unveiling of the wall painting is taken as an occasion to open a large-scale group exhibition: in collaboration with WSE Wiener Standortentwicklung/Wien Holding and STRABAG SE, a two-week interim use takes place in an undeveloped section of the office building on approximately 300 square metres.
Since 2014, the HOLLEREI has pursued its focus on contemporary painting. The current project offers a panoptic view of a medium full of diversity, questions, drive and experimental spirit: a medium in constant motion that can never be definitively captured through survey exhibitions.
The exhibition presents twenty painting practitioners, with Ursula Buchart and Micha Wille being two artists represented by the HOLLEREI: Buchart has been working for years on a figurative aesthetic of excess, while Wille is known above all for her linguistic approach to painting.
Additionally, the first presentations of Peter Uka and Daniel Heil in Austria take place (both courtesy Galerie Voss, Düsseldorf).
