The exhibition „On the Prismatic Expansion of Pigment and Form" shows works of four artists, who over the years established autonomous image practices. The exhibited works make their individual methods of expanding painting and drawing processes visible. The exhibition thus enables an investigation into potential similarities of the exhibited artists' works, who share a strong passion for painting and drawing processes. The exhibition understands the prism as metaphor for semantic expansion - as visualization methodology in the tradition of artists ever since.
Stefan Kreuzer pursues a steady formal expansion within a traditional understanding of painting, targeting physical results as well as challenging previously used processes. Nana Mandl transcends potential media based borders by using transmedial collage techniques, combining attributes of different materials in a fractal manner - digital print on canvas, application of stickers, transparent sheets etc. By focussing trickling, flowing, dripping and splashing of pigment, Astrid Rausch discusses the native materiality of oil painting - her process is defined by deceleration, and a unique care for abstract figuration. Victoria Vinogradova operates in collages of pencil, etching and watercolor, blending figurative and architectural virtuosity to create open, sometimes surreal association spaces.
